Dear Editor
A few months back, my next-door-neighbor’s house burned to the ground. But on the night of the fire, while I was frantically trying to save my own home from going up in flames, a group of my neighbors, whom I’d never even met before, let themselves into my backyard and, armed with leashes in hand, led my four golden retrievers across the street to safety.
You can’t ask for better neighbors than that, and Kensington is full of them. I am so lucky to be able to live within such a caring community. Thank you, Kensington.

Your article about Pat Gangitano was terrific! For nearly 10 of Pat’s career in Normal Heights, I have been his customer and friend. While I am younger than he is, I too enjoy his company as well as his skill as my Barber. Recently, my wife Shelly and I took him to the Oktoberfest in El Cajon at the German American Club. He had the time of his life enjoying the beer and energy of a true Oktoberfest.
Pat stops by my home on occassion and spins a yarn or two about life. One of our most endearing topics is WWII. I am a self made expert in the war and we share topics and tid bits with each other. In my job, l have an opportunity to run into veterans on occassion and Pat enjoys hearing about the stories told to me by our treasured WWII Veterans.
Thank you so much for recognizing this Icon of San Diego. Pat is a beautiful American and I am proud to be his friend.
