Todd Gloria commended

Dear Editor:

Hats off to Todd Gloria: he not only found additional parking in Hillcrest, he has finally begun a dialogue with George Pernicano and his family, a feat that will lead to an amicable resolution to the Casa di Baffi problem.
It is unfortunate that Jimmy Sullivan can only see his agenda in responding to Councilman Gloria’s efforts.  Gloria’s motive was to produce more parking for the businesses and shoppers in Hillcrest.  By staying on point he was able to do something no one has done for many years: bring George Pernicano to the bargaining table.  There is no need to punish Pernicano.  There is no gain in condemning the results of Gloria’s efforts. This is about helping people who do business and want to do business in Hillcrest.
Purity of thought and action is commendable. But finding compromise and turning conciliation into a gain for the community is, in the end, the purpose of our politics. That is what we wanted from Todd Gloria when we elected him, and this is what he has proceeded to accomplish for his constituents.
Keep up the good work, Todd.
